Plays

Simon Paul has written the following scripts, each of which is available to buy on a review or a performance basis through Production Scripts, an on-line publisher of theatrical works.

Cinderella
Fairly traditional story with a number of local references that can be changed. Performance time is approximately one hour. There is up to twelve characters (one can easily be doubled up) and plenty of room for adaptation or ad libbing. It was first performed by Southfields Theatre Group at St Michael's School, SW18 in January 2009.

Ali the Barber and the Forty Thieves
A slightly different version of Ali Baba but the main thrust of the story is similar. Our hero Ali has to do battle against the evil Captain Forty who's aim is World domination through cornering the market in Myrrh. Unfortunately, this is now under revision as one of the songs suggested for use in it and the crux of one scene was originally recorded by someone serving a jail sentence.

The Professor
A short monologue written as a tribute to the late Joyce Grenfell. A new teacher has to organise a class for sports day.

The Butler
A short monologue wherein the butler to an oligarch has to deal with an official over the phone.

The Frog Prince
Derived from two ancient tales, the frog prince and the well at the end of the World. The Princess Brunhilda has to journey to the Well at the End of the World for water which will break the spell on the Princes Ebeneezer and turn him back into a man from a frog. Along the way she meets all sorts of strange characters while at the same time her evil step mother tries to thwart her. Lasting about one and a half hours (with a short interval) The Frog Prince was first performed by Southfields Theatre Group at St Michael's School SW18 in January 2012.

The Secret Agent
Third in my series of monologues, A Secret Agent has to rescue one of his colleagues from terrorists holding him hostage in his own office.

The Terrapin

My latest monologue detracting from my theme of job titles for a moment. This is about Dan the man who receives an unusual gift for a notable birthday. What's he to do?

The Spaceman
Another monologue, this time recounting the bravado of space travel!
